It’s quite something for a show to live up to expectations, especially when it’s a show that has been as anticipated as much as this Basquiat retrospective has, but Boom for Real is everything I had hoped it would be – vital, exciting, relevant, and packed with original artworks.. Perhaps driven by memories of his difficult childhood, by a hope that those early years would not define his adult life, he approached his career with a pathological application.
